Bioderma Hydrabio – dehydrated sensitive skin

I was introduced to Bioderma two years ago and it has been one of my holy-grail skin saver brand that I would always have one or two items in my daily routine from the micellar to tonique and even their awesome pawsome lipbalm and body lotion. I could go on about them but today I would be focusing on the Bioderma Hydrabio range.

Back in Malaysia, Bioderma has been really generous and lovely to introduce and educate me with the brand. Products are always sent to me by brands and companies but I would only provide honest reviews and would only talk and share about them if it is genuinely good or makes a difference. Last year, I was introduced to the Bioderma Hydrabio range during a launch. No doubt I was a little skeptical about the whole hydration range as I was afraid it might be too oily or heavy on my skin. But i was wrong.

Moving here to Sydney, my skincare has totally changed. From a humid country to a dry country, my skin has reacted. But one thing that made my skin soft, supple hydrated and protected throughout this winter was the Bioderma Hydrabio Serum and Bioderma Hydrabio Legere.

Bioderma Hydrabio Serum – I’ve already known how much I love this the face this is my go-to serum, holy-grail and it’s already my third bottle. Each bottle comes in 40ml with a user-friendly pump. Not only does it moisturise your skin and provides immediate suppleness and radiant, it also reduces redness as well as cools down the face. With most serum, the minute it absorbs into your skin, it is as if the outer layer of your skin is left with nothing and dries out. But with Bioderma Hydrabio Serum, not only does it absorb into your skin, but also leaves the outer layer with a protective moisturising barrier. Plus, it isn’t sticky as well! Primer and foundation sits nicely on it during the day, Sleeping mask sits nicely during the night and in fact, on some lazy-days where I don’t even put sleeping mask because it’s just so awesome.

Bioderma Hydrabio Legere – This lightweight moisturiser in cream form is just my go-to moisturiser where I know I wouldn’t be afraid of a sunny hot day or windy cold day. It doesn’t not like a silky layer on the skin as the serum, but this moisturiser absorbs immediately providing a slightly satin finish to your skin so you don’t look over-dewy and this is why it is suitable for normal to combination dehydrated sensitive skin.

TOP – Bioderma Hydrabio Serum | BOTTOM – Bioderma Hydrabio Legere

I have the full range of Bioderma Hydrabio from micellar water, tonique, creme, gel-creme, riche, lip balm, essence lotion, as well as perfecteur which I would some day provide an in-depth review on the full range.

I get alot of questions asking me what is a moisturiser I would recommend, something they prefer it to be one-step quick and easy. I would recommend the Bioderma Hydrabio Serum or Legere.

I know some people may be confused how can you have normal but dehydrated skin at the same time. Well, that is a next topic I’ll be talking about. 🙂

Clearly made my vision better

Almost everyone shops online, with a few taps or clicks on your desktop, mobile or tablet – your item is on your way. But with e-commerce dominating the internet, it’s giving us so much more options and sites to buy from. Discount codes and promotions are constantly given out to attract new customers. But what’s most important is the customer service or how user-friendly it is.

Back then in Malaysia, getting contact lens wasn’t difficult, I could walk into any store or find my friend who’s an optometrist or even buy it from my all time favourite online store mrlens.com.my . Obviously, that was out of my option being in Sydney and I had to find a new shop/store to buy my lenses. 8 years ago when I was in Perth, I used to buy my contact lenses from another site but it wasn’t as cheap as it was anymore until I found Clearly.

Oh Look! 30% off frames & lenses now!

So when I ran out of my contact lens and decided to purchase some from Clearly (because vain-pot me refuse to wear glasses everyday especially on special occasion). I’ve gotten 2 boxes with a discount and free shipping and it arrived at my door within 3 days. #notkidding

Look at that timeline!

So within 3 days, my contacts arrived with a free case (and yes I switch between Acuvue Oasys and Pure Vision 2. Waiting to try Biofinity but will talk about that in a different post)

No doubt here it is – genuine and authentic ( I know some people are really paranoid with e-commerce and buying things online )

Even the packaging looks so pretty!!!

BUT

When I was looking into the boxes I realise something…

The power for both boxes were different!!!

I can’t be wearing power that is less than what i’m supposed to. What’s the point of wearing contacts then?

So i quickly searched on the returns and warranties. After so many years, I have never had to return something or request for an exchange. I know my friends do and it’s a lot of hassle to do so.

Turns out, as long as the boxes are unopened and it’s within the 6 months expiry date, I could return them for free! But clearly I did not want to wait so I called them up immediately.

And within 5 minutes talking to a nice lady on the phone.

I’ve been refunded full amount of the one box.

A new order has been replaced at the same cost in less than 5 hours..

That was quick. Talk about speed.

  • Great services
  • Great range of lenses
  • Quick delivery in excellent condition (I hate those crappy cardboard boxes that is dented and you don’t even get it in a nice condition)

Currently, they are running a promotion –  $10 off contact lenses on all orders above $99

BUT, if you are a new customer, you are able to get 10% discount of your first purchase on contact lens PLUS free shipping! How about that!

So if you’re looking for a new place/site to buy your frames and glasses or contact lenses. Check out Clearly.

Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm

Here is another Bobbi Brown love post. (This post is not sponsored in any way)
Today,  I will be reviewing the Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm that isn’t highly raved or talked about, but if you’re a Bobbi Brown fan or if you know any of Bobbi Brown, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen this around.

The Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm comes in a luxurious glass tub that looks pretty on your vanity table and sturdy on your hands.

For those who loves 3-in-1 or you’re just looking for something that has all the benefit you can find. The Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm is something that you can consider and think about.

So what is the Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm?

A lightweight foundation alternative for dry, dehydrated skin, this formula is ultra-rich and blends easily, giving skin a dewy look with light coverage.

In other explanation for the Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm

  • It is part of the Bobbi Brown Extra range. If you have explored the Bobbi Brown Skincare, you would know that they have an Extra range that is catered for extra hydration, extra repairing and all the other extras that is needed because it’s catered for the mature skin or the super dry dehydrated skin. All the extra benefits that is needed.
  • It contains SPF 25. Sunscreen protection is needed and I have spoken many times about the importance of sunscreen.
  • It is tinted. This is it if you want something light coverage, not full on heavy coverage look and just something natural and bare-skin.
  • It is a moisturiser. Well, sort of depending on how dry and dehydrated your skin is.
  • It is a balm. It absorbs into your skin well and a little goes a long way.

I’ve gotten myself the Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm in Extra Light tint.

For reference:  I am a NC10 for MAC and Bobbi Brown Porcelain/Alabaster for the liquid foundation.

I have used this and tried this out for 3 months. With a few trial and error of what works best as I have a 7 step skincare + 5 step face makeup on a daily basis. So to use this alongside my regular skincare and makeup steps and routine would be a little too heavy for me. As mentioned earlier, this product is really rich.

But after many trials and error, I have finally found what works for me. So a tip for you, don’t jump into assumption and conclude if it doesn’t work out. You need to understand your skin, and how this product weighs and works on you.

The texture

As mentioned, it is a balm texture so it’s pretty thick and I usually use my fingers, beauty blender or a foundation brush to apply. As this is a balm, and same as any other Bobbi Brown’s balm product, it’s best to warm the product with your fingers by rubbing it gently. So if i’m using a beauty blender or a foundation brush, I rub the product on my finger tips before applying on my palm or my face and blend it with a beauty blender sponge or foundation brush.

The shade seems a little dark in the tub seeing it’s extra light and me being a alabaster/porcelain shade. But this is a very natural neutral shade I would say and swatch it before you judge it.

It has a dewy, hydrated finish as you can see once it’s blended well and it absorbs into your skin. It you’re worried with have oily face or t-zone, you may always set it with your loose/translucent powder. Autumn and Winter is when I love this product alot as it gives an extra layer of protection in terms of hydration and all that so my skin isn’t dry from all the cold and windy days.

Many tinted moisturisers there don’t really last long especially the tints as they fade away or it transfers from your face easily but this is amazingly good as it stays on and doesn’t oxidise to make me look like oompa-loompa or transfers away.

Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm

The Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm is available in most Bobbi Brown counters in Myers, David Jones and Mecca or even the Bobbi Brown online website here . It retails for $85 for the standard 30ml/1oz size. But as mentioned, this product is one of those ‘a-little-goes-a-long-way” type.

Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream – Is it worth it?

You guys should know by now that I love Bobbi Brown skincare and makeup. From their foundations to their cleansers and makeup removers. People always do ask me, “Is it really worth it?”So today, I’ll be reviewing the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream and let’s see if it’s worth every cent to everything it claims to be.

Just to make it clear for new readers; I have dry combination skin with sensitive skin (Rosecea). The annoying oily T-zone and dry cheeks. Weird right? That’s why moisturisers are tricky where it can’t be too heavy or too light. I don’t really mind layering my skincare at night, but during the day is what I need to look out for.

I have always thought that the Bobbi Brown Extra range is for dry, dehydrated skin or aging. So when I was given a try on this moisturiser and a few other of the range. I was surprised how it turned out!

First things first – the scent. I love the scent. It reminds me of lemongrass and citrus. Can’t really get a hang of what the scent is as there is quite a few ingredient in there (which we will get into it later). If you’ve smelt and used the Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse, it is similar to that, but less tangy.

I love how it comes it their sleek simple packaging. Although the tub is a downside. But it’s made of glass and it’s sturdy. With the inventions of spatula, I no longer need to dig my nails into the tub. LOL

Let’s see what does it claim to do?

*          *          *          *          *

What it is:
Extra Repair Moisturizing Cream contains all the benefits of Bobbi’s cult-favorite Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm but with a lightweight, luxurious cream texture that’s perfect for layering and prepping skin for seamless foundation application. As compared to the Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm, this product has a much lighter texture as compared to the balm.

Who it’s for: It’s ideal for normal to extra-dry skin types and perfect for those in humid climates or anyone who prefers a lighter feel for their cream.

Why it’s different: This skin-nourishing formula utilizes unique Triple Emulsion Technology to give the cream its lightweight texture while still allowing it to be incredibly moisturizing. It’s made with omega-rich sunflower oil—an ingredient packed with essential fatty acids—to provide moisturization without a heavy feel. Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate plump and smooth the appearance of fine, dry lines, while shea butter provides a protective barrier against moisture loss. Skin looks fresher, smoother and firmer for a healthier-looking appearance over time.
How to use: Massage onto clean skin morning and night.

Bobbi’s tip: Perfect makeup starts with smooth, healthy, glowing skin. In addition to helping skin look fresher and more vibrant instantly, Bobbi’s skincare products work like a pre-makeup primer. The skin’s condition changes on a daily basis due to factors like stress, diet and sleep. It’s important to continuously look at the skin to see what it needs. You can also create options in your skincare routine by layering moisturizer.

What’s my verdict?
The Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream is made for those with normal to dry skin and humid climates. That means, it’s suitable for Summer/Malaysia/Singapore countries where the heat and humidity is terrible. My skin loves it as it balance out the combination skin, locks in the moisture for the dry areas without obvious dry patches showing out, my foundation lays on properly and sets nicely and the oily T-Zone does not shine like diamonds. It shows that there is anti-aging properties but I wouldn’t say much about that, because in the end, how do you judge if anti-aging properly does work?

The moisturiser isn’t the heavy creamy thick kind of texture but rather a gel kind of cream, it glides on my skin without any tugging and spreads evenly. It absorbs really quickly with no greasy or layer of shine over it. I was surprised even when I layer my skincare at night. I had a semi-matte baby skin look, which was what made me love it!

The Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream cost AUD$135 / RM335 for 50ml
Is it worth it? Yes, even though it’s on the pricer end. But it is considered to be a higher end luxury skincare.
Would I recommend it? Yes.
Does it claim what it does, I would honestly have to finish the whole tub or at least 3-6 months of constant use in order to review if my skin got immune to it, and if they were any after-effects. But so far, loving it. This made me wanna try the rest of the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Range.

Have you guys tried any yet?

Till then, Remember! You’re never ugly, only if you’re lazy! 🙂

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick Review

When Urban Decay released their Vice Liquid Lipstick, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them – Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick. I am not your crazy fanatic that would purchase 100 colors and swatch them for you. As much as I would like to assist you but I do not have the financial privileged to do so.
I picked up two colors from the comfort matte range.

  • Thryst – slightly pinkish red
  • 714 – darker red

One thing I’ve learned, DO NOT TRUST the color on the packaging box. Because sometimes they have been exposed to light and the color on the packaging fades. For example, 714 looks slightly orange but it isn’t.

Swatches

As you can see 714 had an orange undertone but has a brighter red finishing to it.

I understand they are many people concerned about not being able to pull off the bright red or orange tones. But I would suggest you to take a trip to the store and get them to test it out on ur lips and head out for the day. Have tea with your friends, dinner or go back to work.

Drink and eat and you’ll be able to test out the longevity of it and whether the fade color goes well. On top of that, you would also be able to get some feedback from your friends and know if you could pull off the color. I know, 5 minutes in the store isn’t long enough for you to decide if you’d want to take the dare and risk to purchase something you’re unsure you’d be able to pull it off.
The Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick also has the metallic finish liquid lipsticks. But I didn’t purchase any of it because it isn’t something I could wear on a daily basis.

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick has not failed in terms of pigmentation, and it comes with the standard applicator. Which is pretty easy and handy to apply it on. It takes quite a while to dry up to a matte finish (about 5 mins) so there’s no worries about the lipstick drying on the tube or applicator on a daily wear but of course nobody leaves it open for a long time. There wouldn’t be any guarantee on that.

The Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick is currently available in Mecca at $29

Anyone tried it yet?
